Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe – Bwindi Impenetrable NP
The tour kicks off at 7:30 a.m. from the designated pick-up point, with a breakfast and restroom break at Shell Kayabwe for about 25 minutes. We then stop at the Equator landmark to experience the Earth’s rotation firsthand. Next, we visit Biharwe for a short hike to the Eclipse monument, followed by a one-hour lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre. Continuing to Kabale, we pause for a scenic, aerial view of Lake Bunyonyi from a viewpoint for 15 minutes. Before reaching Kisoro, we stop at the Mt. Muhavura volcano viewpoint for another 15 minutes. Finally, we proceed to Rushaga in Bwindi, where you’ll spend the night at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
In the early morning, after a cup of coffee, you’ll head to the park headquarters at 7:00 a.m. with your packed lunch, ready to attend a mandatory pre-tracking briefing led by the park warden. During the briefing, you’ll be informed of the guidelines for observing the gorillas and assigned a gorilla family to track based on your fitness level, strength, and any specific preferences. By 8:30 a.m., you’ll enter the forest to begin tracking, which may take between one to five hours, depending on the gorillas’ location that day. Upon finding them, you’ll have a maximum of one hour in their presence. Afterward, you’ll make your way back to the starting point, receive a certificate at the park headquarters, and then embark on a one-hour drive to Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 3: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe
In the morning after a relaxed breakfast, you will set off on your journey back to Kampala with en route stopover for lunch. You will reach Kampala in the evening or transfer to Entebbe in case you need to end the tour in Entebbe.
