The Kenya Tsavo East & Tsavo West National Park Safari offers an exciting adventure through two of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife parks. This 3-day safari begins in either Mombasa  or  Nairobi  and concludes in the same location.

Tsavo East National Park is famous for its vast grasslands and the unique Red Elephants that roam its landscape. Here, you can expect to see a variety of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species, making it a paradise for nature lovers.

Next, you’ll explore Tsavo West, known for its stunning scenery, including volcanic hills and the beautiful Mzima Springs. This park is home to the rare Black Rhino and the famous Tsavo lions. Your journey will include thrilling game drives led by experienced guides who will help you spot wildlife and learn about the area’s rich ecosystem.

Itinerary

 Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport at 5:30 AM for a short briefing about your safari. Then, embark on a scenic drive of approximately four hours to Tsavo East National Park, the largest national park in Kenya, covering 13,747 square kilometers.

Upon arrival at the Tsavo East National Park gate, your adventure begins with a game drive as you look for wildlife while making your way toward your accommodation. Check in for lunch, then return to the park for an afternoon of exploration. Tsavo East is famous for its dust-covered red elephants, maneless lions, and diverse wildlife, including leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, buffalo, and various plains game.

In the afternoon, you will continue your game viewing, focusing on capturing stunning photographs of the wildlife and vibrant birdlife.

Accommodation: Man Eaters Lodge
A mid-range tented camp bordering Tsavo East NP, offering a rustic yet comfortable stay without fences.

Day 2: Tsavo West National Park

Rise early for a game drive before breakfast, soaking in the splendor of an African sunrise over the savanna as you search for early grazers and hunters. Expect to see lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, leopards, and cheetahs, along with rich birdlife.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Tsavo West National Park, where wildlife viewing continues on the way to your accommodation for check-in and lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on another game drive, which will include a visit to Shetani Lava Flow Point for spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peaks. Tsavo West is renowned for its rhino sightings and stunning landscapes, offering higher chances of spotting leopards. This afternoon’s adventure will include a visit to Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary in hopes of seeing these magnificent animals.

Accommodation: Ngulia Safari Lodge
A mid-range lodge located inside Tsavo West NP, providing a comfortable stay amidst nature.

Day 3: Tsavo West National Park to Nairobi City

Wake up early for a final game viewing drive before sunrise, when nature is at its most vibrant, and predators are out hunting while grazers enjoy the dewy vegetation. Experience the breathtaking natural colors illuminating the scenic volcanic terrain.

After the drive, return to your lodge or camp for breakfast. Check out and proceed for mid-morning game viewing, including a visit to Mzima Springs, with more wildlife spotting en route.

At Mzima Springs, marvel at the underground source of sparkling clear waters and the lush environment. Here, you can observe hippos, crocodiles, various fish species, and unique flocks of native birds— a refreshing contrast to the semi-desert terrain.

After your exploration, exit the park and drive back to Mombasa or Nairobi, stopping for a hot lunch at a restaurant along the way.
