The Great Migration is an annual movement of over 1.5 million wildebeests, along with zebras and gazelles, between Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya in search of fresh grazing and water.

The migration usually takes place between July and October, when the herds cross into Kenya’s Masai Mara from Tanzania’s Serengeti. The exact timing depends on rainfall patterns.

The best months to see the migration in Masai Mara are August to October. This is when dramatic river crossings happen at the Mara River, offering breathtaking wildlife action.
