Safari Overview
Our 3-day private Meru National Park safari takes you beyond Kenya’s busiest safari routes into a quieter landscape of open plains, riverine woodland and palm-lined waterways. You travel from Nairobi in your own 4×4 Land Cruiser, enjoy an afternoon game drive on arrival, spend a full day exploring the park and finish with a final morning drive before returning to Nairobi. It is one of our more distinctive Kenya safari packages, combining rewarding wildlife viewing with the space and unhurried atmosphere for which Meru is known.
Unlike busier Kenya safaris, this private Meru safari is designed around privacy rather than crowded sightings. You can look for elephants, lions, buffalo, rhinos and varied birdlife while exploring different areas of Meru National Park with your own driver-guide. Because you are not travelling with a group, we can adjust game-drive timing, rest stops and the pace of each day around your interests wherever park rules and travel logistics allow.
The standard package is operated as a comfortable mid-range safari, with two nights at Ikweta Safari Camp or a similar property. We can also upgrade your accommodation to a luxury lodge or incorporate Meru into a longer tailor-made northern Kenya itinerary. This makes the safari particularly suitable for couples, photographers, repeat visitors and first-time travellers who prefer quieter destinations, although the road journeys mean it is less suitable if you want a very relaxed short break.
Among our 3-day safaris, this route is best chosen for its sense of space and discovery rather than maximum wildlife density. You are paying for private transport, dedicated guiding, comfortable accommodation and the freedom to experience a less-visited part of Kenya at your own pace. The result is a safari that feels personal, peaceful and noticeably removed from the conventional tourist circuit.
