Day 01 :

Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Afternoon Game Drive

We pick you up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport in the morning for the drive to the Maasai Mara in your private 4×4 Land Cruiser. The journey passes through the Great Rift Valley and the town of Narok before continuing towards the reserve. You arrive at Jambo Mara Safari Lodge around lunchtime, check into your Glass Cottage and have time to relax before your first safari.

In the afternoon, you enter the Maasai Mara for a game drive across the eastern plains, where you may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators beginning to become active as the temperature cools. After an early breakfast, you leave with a packed lunch for a full-day game drive in the Maasai Mara. Having the entire day available allows your driver-guide to explore beyond the lodge area and follow the best wildlife activity rather than remaining close to the entrance. Depending on seasonal conditions and recent sightings, you may visit the open plains, riverine woodland and central game-viewing areas in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards and other wildlife. You stop for a picnic lunch at a suitable location before continuing your afternoon game drive. On the return journey, you can add an optional visit to a Maasai village to learn about local traditions and daily life before returning to the lodge for dinner.
